The New Speaking Tasks in PTE: What You Really Need to Know (Part 2)

Other Changes You Might Have Missed

Beyond the two new tasks, PTE has introduced a few other important updates.

First, Read Aloud now contributes only to your Speaking score — no longer to Reading. That increases the importance of fluency, stress, and natural rhythm in this task.

Second, there’s now human expert review for seven tasks across Speaking and Writing:

  • Describe Image
  • Retell Lecture
  • Summarize Group Discussion
  • Respond to a Situation
  • Summarize Spoken Text
  • Summarize Written Text
  • Write Essay

This means your content, structure, and grammar are now reviewed by real examiners — not just AI. Coherence and relevance are more important than ever.

So, How Should You Prepare?

These updates reward real communication skills — not tricks, templates, or over-rehearsed answers. But preparing effectively requires support.

At e-English, we help students:

  • Practise using clear, flexible structures
  • Build confidence with phrases and functions used in real academic communication
  • Improve tone and register through guided support
  • Receive real feedback from real teachers in every class

You don’t have to guess what the exam wants. We’ll show you exactly how to respond — naturally, clearly, and with confidence.
